What is Media

Today we had to create a poster showing the different types of media. I decided to use the sign because it gives the image character (sort of). My favourite type of media is social media but maybe that is just because I am a millennial of something. What other kinds of medea can you name?

Moment in time

This week I wrote a moment in time assignment. I decided to do it about a vaccination because
I had just got one only days earlier and i could remember the events really clearly. If I could change one thing it would change the background image to something better related.

Accepting help from Strangers.

Today I did a sharp session reading the text The Perfect Solution. One of the follow up activities we had to do was seeing if it was good to accept help from strangers. I decided to make a list of the pros and cons of allowing people to help you. I enjoyed scavenging through my brain to find lots of ideas and thoughts. I found it challenging to make sure that the lines were perfectly straight. The easiest part would have had to have been thinking of the ideas. Do you think that it is a good idea to get help from people who you might not know?

Life of a Chest

Over the past four weeks our class has been doing a couple of sessions at Tonui Collab. Our main focus area was game development. I created a game about a chest locating it's way through the dungeon and slowly filling itself up with coins at the same time. I found it quite fun to create the layout for my map and designing the chest character. It was kind of difficult to code the game but the teachers at Tonui were incredibly helpful when it came to design and code. If I could change anything I would probably add a level two, three, four ect. The easiest part would be right now when I am posting it on my blog. The idea for the game came from an obstacle course that I made in Minecraft back in the days of the Xbox 360. The point of the game is to navigate your way through the dungeon but at the same time try to avoid the butterflies. If you are still reading at this point don't bully me about the butterflies. I have no clue as to why I added them in. Anyway, Stop reading and click HERE to play my game.

Open the chest at the end if you dare...

My Maori Game

We were learning about how to use scratch to make a functioning game. I found it easy to post the game on my blog. I found it hard to make my game character because there are so many different greys. I really enjoyed writing the questions and making the explosion piskel. Next time I think that I need to make a different character because the moon is not really associated with Maori. However I could do the stars of Matariki.

Copyright Challenge

Today in manaiakalani we focused on copyright. I found it fun and easy to gather lots of images off of the internet. I found it hard to attach links to all of those images. Next time I think that I should change my New York image to the gulag in COD.

Is the Covid19 Lockdown Working In New Zealand

The Covid19 Lockdown is working in New Zealand.

During the covid19 lockdown, New Zealand Prime minister delivered the message "stay home, save lives. I strongly believe that the covid19 lockdown is a good idea. It helps to stop transmission through the community. Compared to other countries New Zealand has an incredibly low death toll. The lockdown has also made lots of time for interaction with family. Whilst the lockdown was a new thing for the world, it is reassuring that we are now out of it and able to socialize with the world.

To date New Zealand has a total of 1,100 cases of covid19. According to director-general of health Dr Ashley Bloomfield those numbers are only going to drop over time. Every day an average of 1-2 people get infected with the coronavirus. That is an astounding drop compared to our daily record high of 89 on both the 02 and the 05 of april.

My second point is that there is a lot of time that people can spend with their families. Everyone with people in their lives knows how crucial it is to have a close relationship with them. This lockdown is the perfect opportunity for families to hang out amongst each other. With board games and a wild imagination, it would be like taking a trip back to the "good old days".

The third and final point that I would like to bring up is that compared to the number of cases in other countries with similar amounts of people, we are doing alright. Take Ireland for instance, a country with 4,937,786 they have a whopping total of 24,200 cases and 1,500 deaths whereas we a county of 4,822,233 only have 1,100 cases and 21 deaths. This is all because of a massage delivered New Zealand prime minister, "go hard and go early".

In conclusion I am sure that you can agree that the lockdown was a good idea and that with many key members of parliament none of this would have been quite as successful as it was. Now that we are officially out of lockdown it will still take a while for businesses and the economy to get back up on its feat.

About Me 2020

Today we were creating something to show who we are as a person. I chose those colours because I think that they go really well together. Next time I think that I (to quote Isaac) shouldn't deep fry everything.
